January 2012 - Holy Spirit
2011 was a year of breakthrough for a number in our church-it was great to hear the testimonies of breakthrough at our annual conference in October. Others, however, may have reached the end of the year feeling disappointed, battle worn and tired of waiting for their breakthroughs, perhaps even dreading the coming year which is likely to be a tough year as the economic situation worsens.
Romans 12 is a good passage to read at the start of 2012 because it encourages us to:
(1) look at the great heroes of faith described in Romans 11;
(2) keep persevering and believing for our breakthrough;
(3) keep our eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished the race we're in. As mentioned in the December newsletter, January is our Holy Spirit month and from Monday 9th January we are encouraged to take part in a 21 day fast, either sweets, tea or coffee or perhaps one meal a day-the choice is yours! Use the time well to get to know Him better. The benefits are vast-He will not only change your prayer life but He will make the Word of God come alive to you and help You witness for Jesus.
Finally, He will help us to keep going in our walk of faith and encourage us to hold onto our God-given dreams and visions.
